Here’s how we custom built a gamified online course platform for an Herbalism School
Overview
In the online education world, the integration of gamification has become one of the most effective methods for enhancing engagement and improving the overall online learning experience. As a result, many of our clients have been looking to incorporate gamification elements into their WordPress Based LMS. Not only that, but they also wanted to better structure their LMS to easily create content and present it to their students in an organized way.
This case study delves into the meticulous process our ninjas employed in the creation of a gamified online course platform tailored specifically for an Herbalism School and their needs. Our clients wanted a highly engaging online platform, that was simple to both manage and use, to best train their herbalists to heal and transform lives.

Our Solution
Custom Course Content Hierarchy
We implemented a custom feature that enabled the creation of sub-lessons following the main lessons. These sub-lessons were designed to contain topics similar to the standard lessons within LearnDash, providing an organized and structured approach to content presentation. This helped our clients at Evolutionary Herbalism best organize their courses according to their needs and take advantage of the increased engagement obtained by using a “bite-sized” learning approach.

Custom Gutenberg Templates
In this project, we also developed custom Gutenberg lesson and module templates. Our clients can use these templates to streamline the content creation process by allowing the client to load preconfigured templates rather than adding individual blocks one by one when creating course pages. This enhanced efficiency and flexibility in content creation.

Gamification System
GamiPress was also configured on the site for the gamification features including badges and points and we also developed a custom feature to be able to redeem the points earned through course activity to unlock additional courses and material in their LMS.

Our case study tells the story of how we created a fun online course platform for an Herbalism School. Overtime, we’ve seen how gamified online course platforms has affected students’ interest, happiness, and what they’ve learned in their online learning journeys. This shows how using cool new technology in the LMS world can really change things for the better.
